Medical Exam Process
Evaluation Call
After submitting your information, one of our friendly staff will follow up via telephone to complete a review of your service-connected disabilities. They will ask about your symptoms, your desired outcomes, and get an overall picture of your health and benefits situation. They will also make sure we have doctors in an area close enough for you to drive to (with a 3 hour drive or less being what we strive to achieve).
Rating Review
A skilled team member will review the information collected and determine what percentage rating your symptoms fall under on the VA rating schedule. If it is determined that you could benefit from our private exam and dbq service, a team member will discuss the projected rating with you, explain costs and payment options, and answer any questions you have. If you agree to move forward, you will be instructed to file your intent to file so that you lock in your backpay date.
Evidence Gathering
The next step involves obtaining more information from you. We will ask you for some records such as blue button medical records and claims related documents. Once all the required documents are obtained, you will make either payment in full or the first payment of your plan. Then we will send you in depth questionnaires to fill out for each of the injuries we are going to complete a dbq on. We can answer any questions you have about filling those out.
DBQ Generation
Once your questionnaire’s are completed, your dbq’s will be generated. The generator has to review all your records and your questionnaires so this process takes several weeks. But for quality dbq’s that meet the VA’s standards, it is not a process that can be rushed. Once they are generated, they are reviewed to be sure the initial rating projection is still applicable. If it is not, we will discuss things with you before proceeding.
Exam
Once your dbq’s are completed, you will be sent for exam scheduling. You will not be scheduled for an exam until your payment plan is completely paid in full. Once you have an exam date and time, all you have to do is be sure to show up to your appointment. The doctor will receive your dbq’s and be able to change anything he/she feels is necessary. Then, he will either sign off on them after your exam or they will go to our change department for changes and back to the doctor for review and signing.
Final Steps
Once the doctor signs off on the dbq’s after your exam, they will go through a final review to see that nothing changed the projected rating we expected and to ensure there are no errors or corrections that need to be made. We ensure what you receive is quality evidence to submit. Once reviewed, we will send you copies of each DBQ to submit. You can do this yourself or utilize a VSO or other representative to file them if you prefer. You will have your DBQ’s well before your intent to file date as long as you have paid in full.
